Miss World 1957 - Marita Lindahl - Finland

Miss World 1957 Miss World 1957

Nineteen-year-old Marita Lindahl may have been the third Scandinavian to have won the Miss World title, but she was the very first winner from Finland. Described by Eric Morley as having "the haunting beauty and intrigue of a Greta Garbo", she had that certain air of mystery and worldliness that spells instant appeal. Marita, even at her tender age, exuded confidence, and that's what helped make her a winner.
1st runner-up Lilian Madsen, Denmark
2nd runner-up Adele Kruger, South Africa
3rd runner-up Jacqueline Tapia, Tunisia

Where is she now?

Marita Lindahl, after winning the Miss World title, married a fellow Finn, a publicity manager. Her organisational skills came to the forefront when she ran one of the most popular restaurants in Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
