| Born in Wrexham, Wales, in 1943, Rosemarie Frankland was no stranger to the beauty pageant circuit. In 1961 she won the Miss Wales title, followed by Miss United Kingdom and the Miss World crown all in the same year. When comedian Bob Hope placed the crown on her head, he remarked that she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. A month later, she appeared with him in Alaska to entertain the troops. 1st runner-up Grace Lee, Republic of China (Taiwan) 2nd runner-up Carmen Cervera, Spain 3rd runner-up Michele Wargnier, France | | | Where is she now? | | | Rosemarie Frankland was the first British Miss World. She married Grass Roots singer/guitarist Warren Etner and settled in Los Angeles where the couple had a daughter, Jessica, in 1976. Rosemarie passed away in December 2000, at the age of just 57. |
