February 24th Kaiane explores the upper rock

Miss World has taken her camera to the top of Gibraltar’s iconic landmark and her photographs show breathtaking views.

Kaiane took the cable car up to a height of 430m where you can see Spain’s Costa del Sol and look over a panoramic view of the city’s marinas and bays. 

The limestone rock consists of many natural caverns, the most famous being St Michael’s Cave. The cave begins at about 350m above sea level and descends deep into the Rock. St Michael’s Cave forms a huge auditorium, which provides a dramatic space for concerts and live performances.

The Rock is honeycombed with manmade tunnels. These tunnel systems were originally designed by the military and some still remain in use today.

Kaiane commented “The views from the upper rock are unique with Africa on one horizon and the gates to the Mediterranean and the Atlantic on either side.”
