Miss World launches Variety Annual Telethon

 March 8th
Kaiane Aldorino helps to raise $3.1 million

Miss World was star guest at the annual Variety Telethon in Iowa. The event was broadcast from 7p.m Saturday to 6p.m Sunday at the Polk County Convention Complex and around 3,000 volunteers helped at the event.

Appearances from more than 50 entertainers and celebrities, including Olympian Shawn Johnson, World Championship Wrestling Champion Jim "Hacksaw" Duggan and of course Miss World Kaiane Aldorino filled the night's itinerary. Several families were also presented with special bicycles and wheelchairs.

Variety's first telethon in 1975 raised $150,000 with all proceeds going to Blank Children's Hospital.  Now 35 years later, Variety has raised over $70 million that has been granted to agencies serving children across the State of Iowa and have put over 300 Sunshine Coaches on the road transporting children to new adventures.

Kaiane commented “this was a wonderful event and it does so much good for children in Iowa. I am privileged to be involved in raising such an exceptional amount."
